The Nukak Natural national reserve has a wealth of ecosystems with numerous species of endemic or restricted habitat - specific to the Guayana shield - and it is ancestral lands of indigenous, such as the Nukak, Puinave and Curripaco indigenous groups.

The area of the reserve is set in one of the four most important refuges for conservation of biodiversity in the country, the Refugio Imerí - high Vaupés, in an area of rapid transition environmental and high spatial heterogeneity (transition between the jungles of the Amazon and the Orinoco sheets). The high rainfall in the region is positively correlated with high levels of biodiversity, and the remnants of the Guiana Shield.

The entire area surrounding the Nukak Natural national reserve is also protected as a forest reserve in the Amazon area and several indigenous reservations.

There are few activities you can do in this reserve but if you are a person capable of camping in a place full of new species for you, because it is the right place, since the species vary by lot.
